Millwall’s new signings all set to get 45 minutes of action against Crystal Palace

Millwall manager Gary Rowett is set to hand 45-minute runouts to his quartet of new signings in tomorrow’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Crystal Palace.

The Lions made 19-year-old Leeds centre-back Charlie Cresswell their fourth addition of the window earlier this week. The England U21 international has arrived on a season-long loan.

Zian Flemming, George Honeyman and Benik Afobe – the other additions made in the window – will also feature in the fixture at the Eagles’ training headquarters.

“We’ve done a couple of internal 45-minutes games and have trained really hard, so the players are in good shape,” Rowett told the South London Press.

“We’re going to ramp that up this weekend with Palace, which is a brilliant test for us.

“It will be 45 minutes for each player. At this stage we won’t worry too much about combinations on the pitch or anything like that. We’ll start to work on more things as we get through pre-season.

“There might be a couple of young lads involved as well, so we get a chance to look at them. It’s our first game, I’m not expecting too much.

“It’s just a case of fitness for both teams, I’m sure the fact the game is being streamed adds a little bit of interest for both sets of fans.

“I don’t think they are going to see either team fully fit or match sharp, so it will be quite a difficult one to judge.”
