Man charged with murder after body discovered in South Norwood

Police have charged a man with murder after a body was discovered in South Norwood.

A man was found unresponsive in Station Road, close to Norwood Junction railway station, on Sunday at around 5.30am.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and a man, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are in the process of informing the man’s family and formal identification awaits.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command were informed and on Monday a man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The following day, Agash Jeyanandam, 23, of Stonecroft Way, Croydon was charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, August 12 at 10am.
