Millwall boss Harris: We didn’t compete in the first half at QPR – and the goals conceded were really poor

Millwall manager Neil Harris shouldered some of the blame for tonight’s 2-0 defeat at QPR.

First-half goals from Massimo Luongo and former Lions youngster Ebere Eze saw the west Londoners take maximum points.

Millwall are winless in five in the Championship and face West Bromwich Albion next on Saturday.

Harris said: “[I’m] hugely disappointed. I take full responsibility for picking the 11 I did and tactics in the first half.

“What I will bemoan is my players’ lack of fight in the first half in a derby against a QPR side who were up for it. They played aggressively on the ball and were on the front foot. They played better than us.

“We didn’t compete in the first half. Ultimately we’ve lost to two really, really crap goals.

“I can think of four players who passed the ball better than us, unopposed, in the first 15 minutes.

“In the second half I made the change and brought the captain [Steve Morison] on, it was certainly no slight on Tom Bradshaw. He was one of our better players in the first half but we needed to be more Millwall-like in the second half.

“He [Morison] brought that know-how and focal point to our attack.”
