‘We need to get motoring’ – Dons boss Jackson sees plenty of potential in their October fixtures

Johnnie Jackson believes that the upcoming fixtures in October presents a prime opportunity for AFC Wimbledon to get their League Two campaign back on track.

The Dons, 16th in the table, are without a win in League Two since the 2-0 win away to Crawley Town on August 20.

They managed to end a run of four losses on the bounce last Saturday after picking up a point in the 2-2 draw at promotion hopefuls Bradford City.

Wimbledon’s next six fixtures are against Colchester, Walsall, Sutton United, Rochdale, Crewe Alexandra and Harrogate Town – all sides who find themselves 11th and below in the League Two table.

“I do,” Dons boss Jackson told the South London Press, when asked whether the next run of fixtures offered a chance for the side to get back to winning ways.

“Every game is competitive, and every team has their threats. We won’t dismiss any fixture and we respect everyone we play, but we have had a fairly tricky run of fixtures.

“I don’t feel as though we have picked up as many points as we deserved in those fixtures, but I feel like last Saturday can be a real turning point in our season.

“It was a really strong performance against a good side, and arguably we deserved to come away with all three points.

“Looking at it being a new month now, we need to get motoring, and we need to start picking up points.

“There are some good opportunities in October for us.”
