Man and woman rescued from sixth floor tower block fire in Lewisham
A man and a woman have been rescued from a fire on the sixth floor of a tower block.
Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters tackled a flat fire in Russett Way, Lewisham in the early hours of this morning.
Part of a communal lobby on the sixth floor was damaged by fire. Firefighters led a man and a woman to safety from scaffolding on the building using a 9m ladder.

About 60 residents left the property before the London Fire Brigade arrived, while others remained in their unaffected flats. There were no reports of any injuries.
The brigade was called at around 1.55am and the fire was under control by 2.50am.
Fire crews from Greenwich, Lewisham, Deptford, Lee Green, New Cross and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. The brigade took 12 calls to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
