Charlton Athletic set to have duo back available for Morecambe match

Charlton Athletic caretaker manager Anthony Hayes is expecting Ryan Inniss to have recovered from a stomach bug to be available for Saturday’s match at Morecambe.

The Addicks, knocked out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 second round replay loss to Stockport last night, also have club captain Jayden Stockley back from suspension.

Former Palace centre-back Inniss reported he had an issue after training on Monday and played no part at Edgeley Park.

Hayes was asked if Charlton was a difficult culture to work in – a reference to the challenges that Ben Garner, sacked as boss at the start of the week, had alluded to previously.

He responded: “I wouldn’t say it is a difficult place to come and work. It makes things more difficult when you’re not winning games of football. But what we have to try and be is consistent in our behaviour and control what we can – how we train and play.

“At the moment we need to play better to win football matches and we’re not doing that. The only group of people who can change that is the staff that are here and the players that are in that changing room.

“By working together we’ll have a better chance of being successful on the grass, because we’re not a million miles away.”
