Rea and OMG Racing continue their partnership for 2019 British Superbike assault

Gino Rea has re-signed to ride the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 for the OMG Racing UK in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2019.

The South Londoner, former European Superstock 600 Champion and Moto2 front runner, had a strong end to his rookie season with several top ten finishes in the final four rounds.

The 29 year old is full of expectation for the 2019 season and will be looking to build on what was a solid and impressive first season.

“I’m very pleased to continue my relationship with the OMG Racing team. We’ve learnt and developed so much this year and it only made sense to continue together.

“Towards the end of 2018 we started to show our potential and we were finding our way with the new Suzuki GSX-R 1000. I believe we can continue to improve our package so it will be important to have a solid few tests over the winter to head into 2019 as strong as possible.

“This is the first time since 2010 that I have stayed on the same machinery and team for consecutive years which is something I’m really looking forward to and I’m extremely grateful to OMG Racing for giving me that opportunity.”

From race wins in National Superstock to top tens in British Superbike, the team has shown they have what it takes after just one year under the leadership of Team Principal, Paul Curran.

“I’m looking forward to working with Gino for a further year as we can build upon what we have achieved this season. In the latter part of the year, everything starting to click into place, so if we can start where we finish, we will be aiming for top five results and definitely a Showdown position.”

Rea will have a team mate this year with former JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider and Showdown contender, Luke Mossey, joining the squad for the 2019 campaign.
