Police hunt ‘frightening’ burglar who broke down front door

The Met has released an image of a man in connection with a ‘frightening’ burglary in a woman’s home.

Police were called at around 4.30pm on December 14 last year to Hurstbourne Road in Catford following reports that a man had forced his way into the house by breaking through the front door.

He was then confronted by a woman in her living room.

The woman was not injured but was left incredibly frightened by the ordeal. No property was taken.

Detectives have released images, captured on the video doorbell, of the man they need to identify and speak to.

Detective Constable Gerald Baffoe-Bonnie said: “This was a frightening experience for a young woman, who should have been safe in her home.

“We have carried out extensive enquiries to try and identify this man, but we need your help. Do you recognise him? Did you see him in the area that afternoon?

“Burglary is a particularly invasive crime, and the effects are long lasting and can run far deeper than a loss of property. We are determined to tackle these offences head on.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference CAD 4689/14Dec22. To remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
