Millwall’s Mason Bennett set for another specialist visit next week to discover full extent of injury
Millwall attacker Mason Bennett is set to revisit a specialist next week to discover the full extent of his ankle injury.
Bennett was stretchered off at the end of the first half in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Sunderland.
“He’s seen a specialist this week and I think there was too much swelling in the ankle for the specialist to diagnose it effectively,” Lions boss Rowett told Millwall TV. “The specialist is asking for him to go back next week.
“In some ways it is frustrating for Mase but it is part of being a professional footballer, he knows all about that. We’ll support him and we’ll get around him and have our fingers crossed, hope that the results come back than we hoped or perhaps feared.
“He might well play a part before the season is out, which is important.
“It’s the same with Hutchy (Shaun Hutchinson). Hutchy got injured and we hope he’s just going to be out two to three weeks.
“We’ve got a small squad and we have to maximise every little bit of fortune that we can. Unfortunately once again we have had a few injuries but we’ve got to get on with it. Players have got to come in and play their part, take their opportunity.”
