Design team needed for Crystal Palace Park revamp

Bromley council is looking for a design team for the next stage of its £40m plan to regenerate Crystal Palace Park.
The council advertised the contract for the nine-year-long plan on the Central Government website earlier this month.
The plans focus on three sites in the park – the Italian Terraces, Palace Terrace and Penge Gate.
Works include widening the Penge Gate, demolishing and rebuilding the information centre, and general repair work such as removing overgrown vegetation.
The plan to regenerate Crystal Palace Park was approved by the development control committee for Bromley council in March 2021, before being approved by the Mayor of London in October 2022.
A Crystal Palace Park Trust spokeswoman said the trust welcomed the contract as the next step in regenerating the park.
She said: “These critical capital investments will restore priceless heritage, ensure a more welcoming park, and greatly expand public enjoyment of these iconic park features.
“The Trust looks forward to working closely with the council on the park’s regeneration in the years to come.”
Applications for the service contract for a design team, valued at £1.2m, to work on the council’s Crystal Palace Park Regeneration Plan, will close on March 24.
The works involved are expected to begin on June 1 this year, with a projected end date of May 31, 2032.
