Five escape and two taken to hospital after flat fire

Five people escaped and two were taken to hospital after a third flat fire in three days.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Buckleigh Road in Streatham this morning.

Firefighters rescued a man from the ground-floor and a further five people escaped the building before the Brigade arrived.

Two people were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Half of a ground-floor flat in a converted, two-storey house was damaged by the fire.

The Brigade was called at around 12am and the fire was under control at around 1am. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire crews from Norbury, West Norwood and Tooting fire stations were in attendance.

It comes following a house fire in Crispin Close, Beddington, on Wednesday that left a man hospitalised as well as a house fire on Greenwood Close in Morden the same day.
