Woman and child taken to hospital after being rescued from shop fire
A woman and a child were taken to hospital after they were rescued from a fire in a shop yesterday.
Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters were called to the blaze at around 8am yesterday in Munster Road, Fulham.
Half of the shop storage area in the basement, the staircase leading from the basement to the ground floor and the ground floor were destroyed by fire.
One woman escaped from the building before the brigade arrived.
Two other women and a child were assisted to safety from a first floor balcony at the back of the property with a short extension ladder.
One woman was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service staff for smoke inhalation.
The other woman and the child were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
The fire was under control by around 9am.
Fire crews from Fulham, Hammersmith, Chelsea, Wandsworth and Kensington fire stations were in attendance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
