‘Curious how they will cope’ – Blackburn boss piles play-off pressure on Millwall ahead of Monday’s crucial clash

Blackburn Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has questioned how Millwall will cope with the pressure of having “everything to lose” in Monday’s crucial Championship clash at The Den.

The Lions host Blackburn in South London on the final day of the season. Gary Rowett’s side are two points clear of Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Rovers, moving back into the top six after last Friday’s 3-2 win over Blackpool.

Sunderland and West Brom are also level on 66 points alongside Blackburn.

If Blackburn win, their inferior goal difference means they have to hope that Sunderland and West Brom fail to beat Preston North End and Swansea City, respectively, in order to claim the final spot in the top six.

Millwall are in the driving seat to end their 21-year wait for Championship play-off football.

“It’s exciting that both teams need the win,” Tomasson told Lancs Live.

“We know everyone needs to win the game.

“I am curious how they will cope with it and how the stadium will cope with it. There could be a goal in a different place, and you never know what will happen.

“We need to think about how it can become stressful for Millwall as well. They have done a great goal to get this far, but they have everything to lose.

“We have everything to win – we should be very free in our mind. We just need to play the game, and then the chances of us getting a result is better.

“We have a lot of clubs who are playing for nothing, we have one final. Rovers haven’t had that for a decade, so it is a brilliant opportunity – we must believe in it and dream for it.”
