Second man charged with damaging ULEZ cameras
A second man has been charged as a result of an operation launched following criminal damage to ULEZ cameras.
Kingsley Hamilton, 44, of Beddington Lane, Croydon, was charged on Thursday of last week with criminal damage and going equipped with a tool to commit burglary. He has been bailed to appear at Bromely Magistrates Court on June 9.  Â
Joseph Nicolls, 42, of Foots Cray High Street, Sidcup, was charged on May 11 with criminal damage, malicious communications and handling stolen goods, as well as aiding or abetting the destruction of property valued over ÂŁ5,000.Â
He was also bailed, to appear at Bromley Magistrates Court on Friday, June 9. There is no link between the two men.
The new operation was launched after allegations of criminal damage were passed to the Met. The force previously said it had received 96 allegations of damage to other cameras from Transport for London (TfL).
Detective Superintendent Daniel Smith, leading the investigation, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation and this includes gathering CCTV, speaking to potential witnesses and following up active leads.Â
“We are aware of the active discussions online and the passion felt by some in our communities.Â
“We will continue to support lawful protest, but criminal activity is not acceptable.
“We continue to work with TfL to prevent further offences in the future.”
