Charlton Athletic boss asked for contract negotiations update on former Fulham, Chelsea and Sheffield Wednesday centre-back

Charlton Athletic boss Dean Holden says contract negotiations with Michael Hector are “ongoing”.

The Addicks have offered fresh deals to Hector, centre-back Terell Thomas and Aaron Henry.

Centre-back Hector signed in the January transfer window and was a free agent after leaving Fulham at the end of last season.

He was a first-choice pick for Holden in the closing weeks of the campaign.

“I’ve been in touch with Michael and his agent, his father Pat, and conversations are ongoing,” Holden told the South London Press. “We’ve obviously made him an offer but there is no news on that. We’ll see how that pans out.”

Thomas is set to jet off on international duty for St Lucia, who have a qualifier against Martinique on June 17.

“I spoke to Terell yesterday,” said Holden. “He is going away at the weekend with St Lucia, he has got exciting games coming up with them and potentially if they get through the two qualifiers he is going to be away for a lot of the off season. He’ll come back in real good nick.

“The offer has gone in to Terell and his agent. He’s actually due to sit down and speak to him while he is away. We’ll see how we get on with that one as well. He is a player that we want to keep – like Michael.”
