Planning permission granted for new creative hub for young filmmakers
A film studio has announced that planning permission has been granted for repurposing its current three-acre site into a hub for young creatives.
Indie-Zero Film Studio’s has been granted planning permission by Greenwich council to create a zero emission, state-of-the-art film studio hub in Nathan Way, Thamesmead.
One 4,000 sq ft studio, Studio E, is already complete and available for hire, offering sound proofing, a green room, production officers, 80 parking spaces, an onsite art department and set construction services provided by film construction company, Helix3D.

Indie-Zero Film Studio’s chief executive, Brian Dowling, said: “With the current skills shortage and the need for sound stage studio space, Indie-Zero’s plans tackle both of these issues simultaneously.
“Also, being in Greenwich, we are hard wired into the longest established Film Office in London and on the doorstep of some most recognisable film locations in the world.”
Mr Dowling hopes these new studios will help the next generation of creative filmmaking talent, particularly in under-represented communities in South London and to boost the areas economy. The studio is registered as a London Living Wage employer.

He said: “I want Indie-Zero to be a globally significant but community-focussed screen industries production hub providing future generations with a career kickstart.”
Screen-based businesses have already signed up for a space at Indie-Zero, the site can still accommodate another dozen companies.
