Former Palace and Charlton defender makes Scottish Premiership switch

Former Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic defender Pape Souare has joined Scottish Premiership side Motherwell on a six-month contract.

Left-back Souare, who has won 26 caps for Senegal, featured 48 times at Selhurst Park during his time at Crystal Palace and nine times while at Charlton.

He left Morecambe after their relegation from League One last season.

Souare, 33, has also had spells at Frech sides Lille and Troyes during his career.

“Pape has played at a really high level and with that, comes experience,” manager Stuart Kettlewell told Motherwell’s website.

“It’s no secret that we need cover in the wide areas, so when the opportunity arose to get Pape on board, we jumped at it.”
