FC Battersea head to power station for pre-season fitness sessions

A youth football team has headed to an unlikely destination to get some fitness sessions ahead of their new season.

FC Battersea’s under 14s team made their way to the newly-refurbished Battersea Power Station to take part in The Battersea Games, the venue’s newest activity.

The club have the power station as its logo on their shirts, which demonstrates their affinity to the building and the wider riverside neighbourhood.

Maanas Menon, from FC Battersea’s U14s team, said: “I really enjoyed competing with my friends at The Battersea Games and challenging myself to be better.

“Around where we live, we didn’t have any space like this before, so we are very fortunate and grateful to Battersea Power Station for creating a communal area where I can enjoy doing something active with friends while school is out.”

Alex Baker, director of communities and sustainability at Battersea Power Station, said: “As a new town centre for Wandsworth, hosting free, family-friendly activities for our local community is a big focus for us as we want to ensure as many people as possible are enjoying the new riverside neighbourhood that has been created at Battersea Power Station.

“The Battersea Games is an exciting new event for this summer, which is jam packed with sports and games activities for all ages and interests. We were delighted to host twenty members from our local football club, FC Battersea, on Thursday and watch them put the variety of activities and their fitness levels to the test.”
