Met officer convicted of assaulting another officer on a night out
A serving Met police officer has been convicted of assaulting a fellow officer during an off-duty incident.
PC Daryl Marley, attached to Central West Command Unit, was found guilty on Monday after a trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
PC Marley was charged on April 26, 2023, after he assaulted a male officer during a work night out at a bar in Westminster in October 2022.
He was handed a £500 fine, a £200 victim surcharge and £300 in court costs.
A charge of using threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress of a female officer in the same incident was dismissed by the Judge.
Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, who oversees policing in the Central West Command Unit, said: “On or off duty officers have a duty to uphold the standards the public rightly expect. It is clear PC Marley failed to live up to this standard and it is right he is held to account for his actions.”
A spokesman for the Met said: “PC Marley remains suspended from duty. Now criminal proceedings have concluded, misconduct proceedings can progress.
