‘Hurt you’ – Shrewsbury boss highlights Charlton’s attacking threat

Shrewsbury boss Matt Taylor has highlighted Charlton’s threat at the top end of the pitch ahead of tomorrow’s clash at the New Meadow.

The Addicks head to Shrewsbury for Michael Appleton’s third game in charge of the club since taking over from Dean Holden.

Charlton picked up full points against the Shrews last season, winning 1-0 on the road and picking up a 6-0 win at The Valley in April.

Shrewsbury sit just one place below Charlton, who are 16th, in the League One table.

“It’s always difficult when a new manager goes in,” Taylor told Shresbury’s YouTube channel.

“Michael has gone in and he’s a very experienced manager at the level.

“It will be a tough game for us out of possession.

“They’re very fluid and they have some exceptional forward options in their squad.

“I’m expecting a tough game, but we haven’t played any games this season when I have come off the pitch thinking that we have been outclassed or outworked – we just haven’t taken the opportunities that have risen.

“It will be a difficult game. But one thing I am sure of is that Michael will be expecting the same when he comes to our stadium.

“Our players are in a good spot at the moment, albeit, we haven’t scored enough goals – that’s what needs to change.

“Charlton will push us. They have some players at the top end of the pitch who can hurt you if they’re given time and space.

“Our job is to make sure we don’t do that. When we get into those key areas, we have to capitalise.”
