40 artists open their doors to their private spaces
It’s not often that you are given the chance to explore the private working spaces of artists.
In November, 40 artists will open their doors and invite visitors to go behind the scenes and experience the working process at its source.
The artist community of Delta House Studios, in Riverside Road, Tooting, is home to some of London’s leading artists.
Delta House Studios opened in 2015 and has since continued to grow into a thriving hub of over 100 creatives.
One of the artists opening up their studio to the public is LoveJordan – the collective name for artist duo Jonny Love and Sam Jordan.
The pair use colour to playfully explore their fascination with the complexity of sprawling cities.
Their works include 36,000 ink and pencil coloured tessellating shapes on a single piece of paper, a miniature library made entirely out of paper, containing more than 100,000 elements, an elaborate marble run with 66 entangled tracks and thousands of found publication dots and commas gathered on a single canvas.
Mat Kemp – a classically trained sculptor – will be revealing his workspace to the public to show how he uses recycled objects to raise awareness of single use plastics and waste – with a touch of humour.
His bank of materials is constantly updated and the objects can be in the studio for a number of years before they are matched with an appropriate partner and an idea develops.
His work is exhibited internationally and is held in major private collections in Paris, London, Oxford, New York, Zurich, Brussels and Tokyo.
Both artists are participating in the Delta House Studios Open Studios event, The Secret Studios Show, from November 24 until 26 in Delta House Studios, Riverside Road, Tooting.
