Met officer charged with sexual assualt

A serving Met officer is set to appear in court charged with sexual assault.

Sergeant Rachel Bright, attached to the South West Command Unit, which covers the four boroughs of Wandsworth, Richmond, Merton and Kingston, is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

It follows an incident that is alleged to have taken place while the officer was off duty in December 2022, involving a woman known to her.

She was charged via postal charge requisition in September.

A spokesman for the Met said: “The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards are aware. Sergeant Bright is suspended from duty.”
