‘I’ve been trying to get him all summer’ – Bromley boss a big admirer of Charlton Athletic defender

Bromley manager Andy Woodman has revealed he had been trying to sign Deje Elerewe since before the 2023-24 season kicked off.

The Charlton centre-back signed for the National League side yesterday.

Elerewe also had a successful loan with Bromley in the previous campaign, arriving on a temporary deal in March.

The 20-year-old scored their winning goal in their 2-1 play-off tie at Woking but then was sent off in their next fixture as they were edged out 3-2 by Chesterfield.

Woodman told BBC London: “Deji was brilliant for us last year. I’ve got a lot of time for him as a human being, as a young man and player. I’ve been trying to get him all summer.

“He’s had aspirations to hopefully break into Charlton’s first team and that hasn’t happened. A change of manager sometimes it can be a good thing for us in the lower levels. My job now is to get Deji back in our team and hopefully really doing well for us.

“I’m delighted to have him onboard. I can’t thank the people at Charlton enough for making it happen.”
