AFC Wimbledon have bid accepted for Stockport loanee

AFC Wimbledon have had a bid accepted by Stockport for loanee defender Joe Lewis, the South London Press understands.

The League Two table toppers were set to recall the defender from his season-long loan spell at Plough Lane but Lewis now looks likely to sign a permanent deal with Johnnie Jackson’s side

Ex-Torquay centre-back Lewis has formed a formidable partnership at the back with Ryan Johnson, scoring two goals and picking up two assists in 23 League Two outings.

Lewis was absent from Saturday’s FA Cup third round defeat at home to Ipswich.

The club record signing of the phoenix era is the deal the Dons splashed out on Josh Davison at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Fellow Stockport loanee Connor Lemonheigh-Evans still looks set to return to Dave Challinor’s side.
