Macmillan’s £200k South London cancer upgrade

By Shelby Brooks

Cancer patients can now access support in the heart of their communities.

Macmillan has invested more than £211,300 to refurbish its information and support centre at St George’s Hospital in Tooting which was officially unveiled in December, and built a new information bub at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, which opened in mid-October.

Caitriona Ni Mhuiris, Macmillan lead nurse for personalised cancer, said: “Every step of the process has been patient-led. We’ve also incorporated new artwork by local artists, upcycled existing furniture and installed ‘blue sky’ lighting panels, not to mention an improved kitchen area, which all combines to create an inviting and comfy space that patients and their loved ones can use as a home from home.”

Access Macmillan’s help seven-days-a-week with the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 and via the website www.macmillan.org.uk.
