Tazmin Brits re-signs with South East Stars for 2024

South Africa international Tazmin Brits will be back in South East Stars colours in 2024.

The 33-year-old will join the squad before the season opener against Southern Vipers at Beckenham on April 20 and will remain with the Stars until the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy fixture versus Sunrisers at Beckenham on July 14.

Fans will be able to catch Brits in action for the first 10 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy matches and throughout the Charlotte Edwards Cup, which begins for the Stars on 19 May away at Bristol against Western Storm.

The hard-hitting batter made an instant impact last summer. In four 50-over outings, she piled up 214 runs at an average of 107 while striking over 133. Her 66-ball century at Beckenham against Sunrisers was a standout performance.

Brits, who was once a junior world champion in javelin, has represented South Africa in 21 ODIs and 45 IT20s till now, with a century and nine half-centuries to her name across formats.

Tazmin Brits said: “I’m buzzing to be back at Stars and pick up from where I left off.

“South East Stars have an amazing group of players and coaches, whom I formed a real connection with during my previous stint. I’m really looking forward to joining them again in the English summer.”

Emma Calvert, regional director of women’s cricket, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome back Taz to the Stars. She’s an incredible talent, and everyone here saw what she is capable of as a cricketer.

“With a wealth of experience and an impeccable work ethic, her presence benefits the squad not only on the field but off it as well. She is an inspiring figure in the dressing room.

“We’re sure she will be an invaluable addition to the squad once again.”
