More tall storeys for Wandsworth skyline in Gwynne Road

New apartment blocks reaching up to 20 storeys tall could be built in Wandsworth, under new plans.
The buildings would contain 90 flats and industrial units, if the plans are approved by the local authority.
The proposed scheme from developer JACHO (Battersea) Ltd would see a warehouse in Gwynne Road demolished to make way for two new buildings, which would have roof terraces.
One of the blocks would be eight storeys in height, while the other would be 20 storeys.
There would be space for industrial businesses on the ground floors of the blocks with a total of 90 flats above, including 29 affordable homes. The development would also have three disabled car parking spaces and 171 cycle spaces.
A report submitted with the application argued it would contribute to the regeneration of the area. It said: “This development will bring vibrant and much-needed workspace and living accommodation to an area in transition from a mixed-employment past to a modern mixed-use urban quarter.
“Responding to the demand for flexible employment and community spaces for modern lifestyles allows the new residential accommodation to rise above street level with expansive views and amenity. Better employment will be provided than the current use and new dwellings offered where none have existed.”
The plans have been submitted to Wandsworth council, who will make a decision in due course.
