Charlton boss has short response when asked about Cheltenham Town draw scenario
Nathan Jones has rejected any talk of viewing a point as being enough from Charlton Athletic’s trip to Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.
The Addicks extended their unbeaten run in League One to five matches after a 1-1 draw at Northampton Town at the weekend.
The South Londoners have had to share the spoils in four of their recent encounters – maximum points being collected last midweek at Derby County.
Charlton are 18th in the table and four points clear of their opposition tomorrow.
But Jones was quick to dismiss any suggestion that he would settle for a draw before the match.
“No, no,” was the Welshman’s short response.
Karoy Anderson’s second senior league goal put the Addicks ahead at Northampton before a mistake by Harry Isted was punished by Louis Appere.
“We’re not in a bad place in any way, shape or form,” said Jones. “It just would’ve been wonderful if we’d had two more points. It would’ve pushed us up the league and given us a bit more of a buffer and we’d have had what we deserved.
“We’ve got to (thrive in that pressure environment at Cheltenham) but it’s not just what I thrive in, it’s what the group, club and players need to thrive in. We’re looking forward to every game now because of the level of performance – we’re doing very, very well.
“We’ve got to keep that momentum going and keep picking up points – get ourselves away from the danger zone.”
