Man shot dead in Catford named as gunman remains on the loose

The man who was shot dead in Catford in the early hours yesterday morning has been named by police, as his attacker remains at large.

Shaquille Graham, 30, has been identified as the victim of the attack. His next of kin are being supported by family liaison officers, the Met said. 

No arrests have been made but the Met said its investigation was making “good progress,” with a number of leads being followed up.

Police were called to reports of a shooting at around 4.30am in Catford Broadway, Lewisham.

At the scene, opposite Lewisham Town Hall and Catford Broadway theatre, officers and London Ambulance Service crews found a man – believed to be in his 30s – with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon remains in place at the scene and officers are patrolling the area.

Detective Superintendent Brian Hobbs, investigating, said: “Although the shooting happened in the middle of the night, it happened on a busy road and there will have been witnesses who may have seen or heard something.

“I would urge anyone with any information, who hasn’t already contacted police, to contact us urgently.

“We are determined to secure justice for Shaquille’s grieving family and friends.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting CAD1160/10Mar. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Information can also be given directly to police via the online portal here.”
