Millwall defender an injury doubt for Rotherham United match after being subbed off
Millwall defender Joe Bryan is a doubt for Monday’s Championship match at Rotherham United after coming off in today’s 1-1 draw against West Brom.
The former Fulham left-back went down for treatment in the second period and then made way for Danny McNamara.
It was Bryan’s foul which led to a penalty for the Baggies. He caught Grady Diangana inside the penalty area and John Swift converted past Matija Sarkic.
“It’s early to tell but he felt his groin,” said Lions head coach Neil Harris. “We hope that it is nothing major and he’s available for Monday at Rotherham. But when you play Friday-Monday or Saturday-Tuesday, if a player comes off in that first game they are normally not ready for that second one.”
The South Londoners are unbeaten in three home matches since Harris took charge.
“We are seeing a Millwall team grow in confidence of playing here at The Den,” said the Lions boss. “I was honest enough to say that there was probably a little bit of fear in the ground when I took over – from the fans, not getting results, and the players were a little bit nervous playing at home.
“What you’re seeing is a confident team playing with belief here at The Den because the stadium is unified. That is what we have to be as a football club. You can see that little bit of confidence in our play.
“The demand from me is to be the best you can be with the ball. We work on patterns of play and give them ideas – we’re still seeing some getting up to fitness, like Michael Obafemi.
“We will continue to get better as we go along. But it was a strong Millwall performance.”
