Boy, 16, charged with murder after west Kensington shooting
Police investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in west Kensington have now charged four people with murder.
Janayo Lucima died following a shooting in Comeragh Road at around 10.15pm on Easter Monday.
Yesterday, a 16-year-old boy was charged with the murder of Mr Lucima.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court earlier today and was remanded in custody.
He will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Three others have previously appeared in court charged with Mr Lucima’s murder.
A 22-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, where they were remanded in custody.Â
A trial date will be set in due course.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation, said: “Although there is clear progress being made in this investigation, we are still very keen to hear from anyone who has information that could assist our investigation.
“No matter how insignificant it may seem, please do share it with us.
“A group of men were seen in the area at the time of the shooting, either on foot or on a bike. I need the public’s help to identify those people.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to identify those responsible for Janayo’s murder to give his loved ones the answers they so desperately need.”
The investigation was launched after police were called following reports of a disturbance and shooting at a residential address in Comeragh Road.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found Janayo injured at the scene. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead shortly before 11pm.
A post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday last week and gave the cause of death as a gunshot injury.
