Advertisement feature: Volunteers needed to support children
The Cardinal Hume Centre, which provides accommodation, practical support and specialist advice for young people, children and families facing homelessness in and around Westminster, is looking for more volunteers to support its critical work.
With 25 per cent of Westminster’s children living in poverty, the Centre is trying to break the cycle, providing support with everything from accommodation to immigration to employment.
The Centre is currently looking for more volunteers to help in its charity shop.
The shop is an important source of revenue for the charity and relies on the generous support of volunteers to stay open.
In addition to the shop, there are other opportunities to make a difference, from volunteering at the Homework Club, which supports kids after school, to helping our job-seeking clients with basic IT coaching, including support with completing forms, navigating the internet and other digital inclusion work.
Alison, who started volunteering at the centre as an English teacher in 2012, said: “I give my time and know that it is appreciated. Volunteering is personally energising. The staff are warm and friendly, and those who come through its doors know that they will receive all the expert support and advice that the Centre has to
give.
“Volunteering makes me feel a valued community member.”
