Gathering of creative business minds planned at Balham event

By Kelsey McCabe

Business owners and artists are being invited attend the launch of a community programme aimed at providing one-on-one business support to creative businesses.

Wandsworth council will kick off its third Re:Create Wandsworth initiative with an event on Thursday, June 27 in collaboration with Creative United. It will be held at The Bedford tavern at Bedford Hill, Balham.

This year, the programme received a £37,500 grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to distribute among 50 creative and cultural businesses, which will each have access to one-to-one business coaching, networking events, and an e-learning course.

Wilbur Moore from Floating Focus Facilities Ltd, a member of last year’s Re:Create cohort, said: “The conversations with my mentor were pivotal in providing me with clear guidelines and a strategic plan.

“Additionally, she boosted my confidence and encouraged me to engage in self-reflection, which helped me identify and focus on my unique skills and strengths.”

Other members of the 2023 cohort will attend the launch event to discuss their business’s progress and how their experience with Re:Create aided their growth.

Since last year, 93 per cent of participants reported increased confidence in their ability to grow and maintain their business, while 74 per cent reported a greater understanding of how to increase their income.

The next Re:Create programme will begin in September, with applications for the 50 available slots opening on June 27, the same day as the launch event.
