Chelsea midfielder set for Premier League switch

Southampton are in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu on loan.

Ugochukwu joined Chelsea last season in a £23.2million deal from Rennes but only featured 15 times in his debut injury-hit campaign.

The 20-year-old scored against Inter Milan and Wrexham in pre-season, but Enzo Maresca has brought in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who he worked with at Leicester City.

Southampton won promotion to the Premier League last season under Russell Martin.

He has represented France at U21 level but was pulled from turning out for Thierry Henry’s Olympic squad after missing out on a place in the condensed 18-man squad earlier this month.
