South London Press transfer deadline week LIVE blog – Crystal Palace youngsters who could be set for loan move in final week

A look at which Palace youngsters could head out on loan

Crystal Palace have already loaned out nine academy and development players, including the likes of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, David Ozoh and Joe Whitworth – but there is a shortlist of players from Palace’s U21 squad seeking to join them before Friday’s deadline.

Jack Wells-Morrison, Justin Devenny, Roshaun Mathurin and Franco Umeh are all players available for stints away from the club.

Meanwhile, central defender Sean Grehan, who had a short move to Carlisle United last season, is seeking to overcome injury to return to the EFL.

Umeh and Mathurin, who were two of the U21’s brightest attacking talents last season, have had interest this summer, but no firm offers have yet to materialse.

Northampton were working on a deal for Mathurin, which collapsed.

Irish youngster Umeh, who is in line for an U21 call-up for the first time in his career, could have a move away determined by Palace’s ability to bring in first-team cover for Tyrick Mitchell.

Crystal Palace’s Roshaun Mathurin arrives for the Premier League match at the City Ground, Nottingham. Picture date: Saturday March 30, 2024.

Chelsea complete deal for Belgian keeper

Chelsea have completed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders from Genk.

The 19-year-old has been sent straight back to the Belgian club for the remainder of the 2024-25 season and will join Chelsea’s first-team squad in the summer of 2025.

Penders is a Belgian youth international and has represented his country up to U19 level.

QPR striker set for League One switch

QPR forward Lyndon Dykes is set to undergo a medical with Birmingham ahead of a £1million switch.

The Scottish forward had been linked with a move to Millwall but is now set to drop down to League One.

Dykes moved to QPR from Livingston in August 2020 and has scored 37 goals in 165 appearances.

He will line up alongside former Charlton striker Alfie May at St Andrews once the deal is complete.
