Red-hot Millwall attacker is a Fantasy EFL hit – but is he playing the new game?
Duncan Watmore is flying high in the new Fantasy EFL game but the Millwall attacker has not been tempted to play it.
The Lions attacker scored and assisted in the Lions’ 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday before the international break.
Watmore is on 38 points with players of Fantasy EFL hoping he can add to that total at home to Luton Town this weekend.
No other player listed as a forward has a higher score than the former Middlesbrough and Sunderland man – he is level with West Brom’s Josh Maja.
The Fantasy EFL game sees people picking seven players from all EFL matches each week. You can pick a player as many times as you like throughout the season but you can only select a maximum of two players from one club each gameweek.
You can pick two clubs who will also score points for your team depending on their result. However, you can only select a club a maximum of five times throughout the season.
Each week you can select one player to be your captain who will earn double points. Your vice-captain will step in if your captain doesn’t play.
Millwall tweeted on social media platform X that Watmore was the Fantasy EFL equivalent of Erling Haaland after his contribution to the win over the Owls.
Asked if he played it, Watmore said: “No I don’t. I did the Fantasy Premier League before but never done the EFL one. That’s not a bad start (in the current game), I’ll take that.
“I don’t know (if any friends or family are doing it). If they are they haven’t let me know yet.”
Millwall picked up their first win at The Den this season before the international break.
“It’s hugely important because it is such an amazing place – the fans are brilliant and we love playing there,” said Watmore. “It’s something we always want to deliver when we’re at home. Creating those performances and atmospheres.
“I have to be honest, I thought we were very, very good against Watford as well. And I think on another day we would’ve come away with three points from that game as well.
“It was nice that the performance was justified this time by the result and us winning quite handsomely in the end.”
