Crystal Palace defender set for Championship loan switch

Crystal Palace defender Rob Holding is set to join Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season.

Holding has been frozen out from first-team action by Oliver Glasner after the duo fell out after Palace’s clash against West Ham earlier in the season.

The ex-Bolton defender has only made one appearance for the club since he joined on a three-year deal from Arsenal in the summer of 2023.

Holding, 29, has been named once on the bench this season by Glasner.

The Blades are looking to bolster their backline ahead of looking to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Holding was keen on a move to the MLS earlier in the window but Championship side Coventry were also keen.
