Charlton Athletic boss provides transfer update

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Lee Bowyer is not expecting a signing before Saturday’s pre-season friendly at Welling – but admits that can quickly change.

The Addicks are back in the UK after a training camp in Malaga.

Charlton have made four new signings since promotion to the Championship – Macualey Bonne, Tom Lockyer, Chuks Aneke and Ben Purrington.

Asked if there were any deals set to go through before the traditional first domestic friendly at Park View Road, Bowyer replied: No. But then the way the Ben Purrington [deal] happened it was literally the night before – he flew out the next morning after everything was agreed with him and Rotherham at 8pm or 9pm.

“So it could all change quickly.

“I don’t think anyone will be coming in before Welling, but that can change easily.”
