Four injured in Wandsworth gas explosion

At least four people have been injured with one elderly man taken to hospital following reports of a gas explosion this morning in Garratt Lane, Wandsworth.

Emergency services were called at 7.25am to a block of flats where part of the wall had been blown out.

Emergency crews continue to deal at the scene with a police cordon put in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Sergeant PS John Nicolaou from South West BCU said: “At this stage we believe up to three people have been injured as a result of what is believed to be a gas explosion. We await a full update on their condition.

“The Health and Safety Executive will be informed in due course and the Gas Board are at the scene now. All emergency services continue to work together at the scene along with the local authority.”
