Charlton midfielder Darren Pratley says that Addicks have let themselves down in recent successive defeats

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

Charlton midfielder Darren Pratley says the Addicks have “let themselves down” during the recent defeats against Birmingham and Wigan.

The Championship new-boys went six games undefeated at the start of the campaign but have now suffered successive losses following the 2-0 reverse at the DW Stadium on Saturday.

A goal in either half from Chey Dunkley, both coming from corners, proved enough to see the South Londoners off.

“Very disappointing today,” said Pratley, who wore the captain’s armband in Jason Pearce and Chris Solly’s absence in the north-west.

“Especially after the run that we’ve been on. We let ourselves down last week and this week again. They scored from two set-pieces. Usually we’re quite good at them, we don’t concede from set-pieces. All in all, I thought we were quite sloppy in possession and we lost too many individual battles. If I’m being honest, they were better than us. They wanted it more than us today.

“Second-half was probably a bit better, we changed the shape a bit, got a bit closer to then. We probably had the better chances during the game for how bad we were. We got done by two set-pieces. You can’t give anyone a two-goal lead and expect to get back.”
