Brandon Pierrick on the “bonus” of playing part in Crystal Palace’s goal at Norwich City

BY SAM SMITH

Debutant Brandon Pierrick has described his involvement in Crystal Palace’s late equaliser against Norwich City as a ‘bonus’.

The 18-year-old forward replaced Martin Kelly on 83 minutes as the Eagles sought a reply to Todd Cantwell’s early strike.

Pierrick passed to Wilfried Zaha who crossed for Connor Wickham to tap into the net.

“When I came on I was just thinking: ‘How can I affect the game?’ and I just thought: try and run, try and run,” the academy graduate told Palace TV.

“And when I was running I passed it to Wilf and that’s how we got our goal so that was a great moment for me. That was a bonus.

“The gaffer and Ray [Lewington] just kept telling me to keep warm and when I came back they told me to get my shin pads on because I was coming on. I was excited but I kept it inside.”
