Child social care in Greenwich receives ‘Good’ rating

Children’s social care in Greenwich has once again been rated ‘Good’ in all categories.

Ofsted’s inspectors performed a rigorous audit of all areas of Greenwich children’s social care services during a four-day visit.

They found the borough’s “well-trained, supported and motivated workforce,” were performing well to ensure that, “children who need help and protection receive a service that is timely and of good quality”.

Cllr Jackie Smith, cabinet member for children’s services and community safety, said: “This inspection demonstrates the continued high standards delivered by our hard-working and dedicated children’s social care teams.

“Keeping children and young people in our borough safe and ensuring that they have strong foundations despite adversity is a top priority for the council. I’m incredibly proud of all our staff for doing such a good job and also being acknowledged for it.”

Inspectors recognised the “strong drive and ambition for children,” in Greenwich, and that “political leaders have invested well to ensure that children’s needs are prioritised”.

The report praised Greenwich’s social workers, saying they “know their children well and are clear about what needs to be achieved, seeking children’s wishes and finding out about their feelings during timely visits”.
