Charlton Athletic boss Robinson: Average age of our team has been unreal

By Richard Cawley
Karl Robinson reckons he is fielding some of the youngest Charlton Athletic teams in years.
On-loan Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi, 19, scored in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Walsall with academy graduate Joe Aribo, 21, also on target.
“The average age of our team has been unreal,” said Robinson. “We’ve probably had an average of 23 or 24.
“I’d imagine that is the youngest average age a Charlton side has had in the last 10 years
“Sols [Chris Solly] is 27 but the rest of our back four was Ez [Konsa], Jay Dasilva and Harry Lennon. Joe Aribo in midfield and then Stephy and Tariqe Fosu, who are all young ones. Ben Amos is still young for a goalkeeper.
“We just look like we have got lots of energy. I got asked the question on Saturday ‘I bet they keep you young?’ There is that vibe around the place, that bit of fun going on.
“The boys are enjoying working hard and winning together.”
