Hull City v Charlton Athletic team news: Starting line-up is in as the Addicks return to Championship action

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

Macauley Bonne will lead the line alongside Tomer Hemed as Charlton resume the Championship season with a massive game at Hull City.

The Addicks dropped into the relegation zone after a 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough in their last outing 105 days ago, before the Covid-19 crisis forced the suspension of all football nationwide.

Hull, winless in twelve games in all competitions, sit just one place and two points above the South Londoners ahead of today’s behind-closed-doors clash at the KCOM Stadium.

With top-scorer Lyle Taylor choosing to sit out the rest of the campaign, all eyes will be on Bonne and Hemed to provide the firepower to ensure the Addicks secure their second-tier status over the final nine games of the campaign.

Ever-present Dillon Phillips retains his place in goal, with a back-four of Adam Matthews, Tom Lockyer (returning from a two-game suspension), Jason Pearce and Deji Oshilaja in-front of him.

West Ham loanee Josh Cullen will operate alongside Darren Pratley in the centre of midfield, with Aiden McGeady and youngster Albie Morgan on the flanks.

Playmakers Jonny Williams and Erhun Oztumer and forward Chuks Aneke are amongst the substitutes, with Bowyer able to name nine on the bench and make up to five substitutions during the game thanks to a rule-change.

Sam Field is also available on the side-lines, with the West Brom loanee returning to The Valley after a long injury lay-off.

Andre Green, Lewis Page and Jake Forster-Caskey all miss out with minor niggles.

Charlton: Phillips, Matthews, Lockyer, Pearce, Oshilaja, McGeady, Cullen, Pratley, Morgan, Bonne, Hemed. Subs: Amos, Purrington, Williams, Aneke, Sarr, Field, Oztumer, Davison, Doughty.
