Mamadou Sakho suffers muscle tear as Crystal Palace centre-back options diminished again

Roy Hodgson was unable to provide an early diagnosis on Mamadou Sakho’s hamstring injury – with the French defender adding to Crystal Palace’s injury woes.

The centre-back came off in the first half of tonight’s 2-0 defeat at Wolves as the Eagles suffered a seventh straight Premier League loss.

Palace are already without Gary Cahill and James Tomkins.

When asked if he could give an update on the extent of Sakho’s injury, Eagles boss Hodgson said: “Not really, because when there is a pulled muscle or a strained muscle the doctors won’t give any prognosis really – they’ll wait for the scan.

“But it’s a definite pull. It will be some sort of grade tear to the muscle. The big question will be how big a tear. We’ve got to hope it isn’t as bad as Gary Cahill’s.”
