Tom Lockyer set for Charlton Athletic exit – as defender misses Crystal Palace friendly

Tom Lockyer is set to leave Charlton Athletic – with the centre-back playing no part in today’s pre-season friendly at Crystal Palace.

Our paper exclusively revealed that the Wales international’s agent had activated a release clause in his contract which allows him to leave for nothing.

That could only be triggered if the Addicks failed to stay in the Championship.

Lockyer’s absence today means that Darren Pratley and Deji Oshilaja start in central defence with Jason Pearce ruled out with a knee injury.

The 25-year-old did not train with the SE7 outfit yesterday.

It is understood there is no injury and that Lockyer is finalising a move away from Charlton, who he joined on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers last summer.
