AFC Wimbledon manager’s comments show that transfer incomings not over yet

AFC Wimbledon manager Wally Downes has dropped the broadest of hints that his January trawl of football’s bargain basement is far from over.
In remarks that illustrated he is also aware of the risk of losing influential players such as captain Deji Oshilaja, Downes said, of any prospective comings and goings: “You never know what the goings are going to be but certainly there’s the possibility of a few ‘comings’.
“When you have lots of players that you want to get in on loan from higher clubs it’s a scramble. You could be in a list of eight clubs for one player and he gets the choice and you don’t get him, so then you have to go somewhere else.
“It’s really a scramble and a lot of clubs are vying for the same sort of players.”
