Battersea MP urges all residents to get vaccinated in a video with local leaders

By Toby Porter

An MP has urged all residents to get vaccinated in a video with local leaders.

Marsha de Cordova MP for Battersea has come together with local community and faith leaders, councillors and clinicians to build confidence in the Covid-19 vaccines.

The video highlights key facts about the vaccine’s safety and efficacy to address some of misinformation and mistrust, especially among Black, Asian and ethnic minority groups.

De Cordova said: “In what has been an immensely challenging time, the Covid-19 vaccine offers a real chance to see an end to this pandemic.

“It’s vital that we all take the vaccine when it’s our turn in order to protect ourselves , our families and the community.

“I am pleased to be joined by faith and community leaders across Battersea to spread this message: that the vaccine is safe and effective and our best chance to beat this virus.

“We must work together in the coming months to get Battersea vaccinated.”

Tarek Iskander, Battersea Arts Centre Artistic Director and CEO who participated in the video said: “I wanted to be part of this video because I believe so passionately about everyone getting access to this help.

“I worked in the NHS for many years before joining the arts, so I know how important the vaccine is and what a wonderful thing that we have these treatments available.

“I can’t wait for me and my family to have ours. I am delighted BAC will be opening as a vaccine centre in Wandsworth, helping people from every walk of life to stay well.”
