Closed businesses provide artists opportunities to exhibit their work during lockdown

Artists are taking advantage of lockdown by exhibiting their work in the windows of closed businesses.

Camberwell Arts has launched an exhibition of paintings, photographs, prints and drawings in the area around Denmark Hill and Camberwell Church Street.

The installations have given local artists the opportunity to sell their work, as well as brightening up the area.

Debbie Allen, the volunteer project co-ordinator at Camberwell Arts, said: “By showcasing local artists we are helping to support them to keep our creative economy going. And, at the same time, adding interest to our high street during lockdown with so many places closed. We are literally and figuratively taking this window of opportunity.”

The exhibition is showing work by Anna Maria Amato, Kimbal Bumstead, Florence Goodhand Tait, Susan Gordon, Rachel Kay and more.
