Crystal Palace manager provides Eberechi Eze and Cheick Doucoure injury update after Luton defeat

Roy Hodgson has provided an injury update on Eberechi Eze and Cheick Doucoure after the Crystal Palace duo were forced off with injuries during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Luton Town.

The Greenwich-born attacker Eze went down before half-time after a coming together with Luton defender Gabriel Osho.

He started the second half but went straight away and was replaced by Jordan Ayew.

England international Eze had only just returned to the side – making his second start in a row – after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up after the 1-0 win at Manchester United.

The hosts went ahead in the 72nd minute after Teden Mengi fired home from a corner.

Palace equalised through Michael Olise in the 74th minute, but Luton won 2-1 after a strike in the 83rd minute from Jacob Brown.

“He didn’t exactly go down, did he?” said Hodgson.

“The way I saw it, he was brought down and as he was trying to get away, the player landed on him and has damaged his ankle.

Cheick Doucoure, who started on the bench last time out against Everton due to a hamstring injury, went down in the 49th minute and had to be stretched off at Kenilworth Road.

The Mali international was replaced by Will Hughes.

“He’s got a bad injury,” added Hodgson.

“I’ll let the doctor deal with that first. It’s not going to be an injury that keeps him out for a short period of time.”
